Statement: Law and Order and Defending the Police
July 1, 2020
We must have law and order in our nation and we must hold leadership accountable. That includes local, state and national leadership.
The lawlessness that has been allowed in major cities across the U.S. cannot go on. We need leadership that will support a strong and vibrant police force. That means not standing in opposition to police or calling for widespread defunding of police. It also means holding individuals accountable to the oath they took to protect and serve.
While we should always evaluate and strengthen spending decisions, simply defunding the police is not the answer. Our police force must know that we support them and that they will have the tools and training they need to do their job.
