Ryan doesn't just talk the talk but has shown he knows how to walk the walk. We need more people like him in government today.

Ryan Howard has spent the last decade helping to improve our community as an award-winning volunteer. He has managed a successful career in global supply management and operations and helps companies improve their manufacturing and business operations. Ryan understands the needs of children, families and businesses. Now he wants to take the next step by serving our community in the state legislature.

Ryan was born and raised in Waterloo and lives in Cedar Falls with his wife Bruna.

Ryan is an active community member and an award-winning volunteer. He has spent the last decade mentoring youth and helping to solve problems in our community through his work in non-profit leadership.

Ryan has worked at John Deere for 12 years. He helps suppliers improve their manufacturing and business operations.

Ryan and his wife own a state-registered in-home child care and are registered foster parents.

Local Candidate

Ryan Howard was born and raised in Waterloo, IA, and has lived in the Cedar Valley nearly all his life. He lives in Cedar Falls with his wife, Bruna.

Ryan met his wife, Bruna, while traveling to Brazil for work. After dating LONG distance for over 3 years, Bruna moved to the U.S. to get married with Ryan. 

Bruna became a U.S. Citizen in December 2019!

Active Community Member

Ryan has always been an active member of our community. He has received several Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Awards and has been nominated for the Mayors’ Volunteer Award. He was also recognized as the 2018 United Way Volunteer of the Year and was interviewed on the KWWL Steele Report in 2019.

Ryan and his wife operate a state-registered in-home Child Care and are registered foster parents.

Howard currently serves the Cedar Valley through youth mentoring, supporting the local child care and mental health coalitions, and serving on the Cedar Valley United Way Board of Directors. Ryan is also on his church’s Business Advisory Team.

Ryan always looks for ways to serve people around him and is excited to take his walk-the-walk mentality to the Iowa Capitol. 

Career & Business

Ryan Howard has worked at John Deere for more than 12 years. 

In his current role, he evaluates new businesses and helps to improve operations and processes at suppliers to John Deere. He understands the struggles that small, medium and large businesses face today.

Ryan is also a small business owner with his wife. He understands what it takes to operate and manage a business in today’s environment. 

Ryan’s career has taken him to more than 20 countries and he has worked with over 120 businesses. He has been responsible for contract negotiations, profit and loss, cost reduction and efficiency improvements. 

Family-Centered

Ryan and his wife operate a state-registered in-home Child Care and are registered foster parents

Ryan is also a registered provider, but with his full time job at John Deere, Bruna runs the child care day-to-day.

In their child care, they serve and partner with parents of our community and have developed a program based on cutting-edge research to help babies and children reach their full potential

Ryan and Bruna also serve the community as certified foster parents.

Faith in Action

Ryan’s faith is a central value and driving force in his life. It drives everything he does, from his family values and compassion for others, to his work ethic and desire to serve and give back.

Ryan enjoys helping others thrive and he even started a blog and podcast to help people put their faith into action through the work they do every day. His blog and podcast are hosted at YourFaithAtWork.org.

A Passion for Education

Learning is one of Ryan’s true passions. He completed his MBA and BS in Industrial Engineering, both from Iowa State University. He also completed his PhD in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University.

Ryan continues to pursue his passion for learning today, with a special emphasis on understanding and solving the issues within our community, our state and our nation.
